The Clermont London, Victoria

The staff did so much to make sure we enjoyed our stay, and nothing seemed like too much trouble. Special thanks to Vika and Faris, whose help made a real difference. Our room was spotless and beautifully presented, with everything we needed for a comfortable stay in a classy heritage building. It’s close to transport and within easy walking distance of many places in London. A wonderful stay, and this hotel deserves its five stars.

I stayed here with my best friend to celebrate our 50th birthdays, and the hotel was gorgeous. Faris checked us in and helped us throughout, from sorting out tech issues and getting ice for my friend’s ankle to calling a local restaurant about takeaway. He was so kind. Housekeeping was fantastic as well. We left a note asking for extra coffee and only still water, and they brought them. The room was looked after daily without feeling intrusive or like they were doing the bare minimum. The luggage porters were lovely, helped with our bags when we arrived and kept an eye out for our Uber as we left. Breakfast was great, The Soak was a very nice restaurant, and Reunion had excellent drinks. The staff were amazing. I’ll definitely come back when I’m in London, and highly recommend it for the service and easy access to the underground, national rail and buses.

I came back after enjoying my 2021 stay, mainly because the location is so good. This time, though, I wouldn’t be rushing back. We arrived a little after 3pm and were first told the room was ready, then five minutes later a receptionist apologised and said the keys would take 30 minutes. We waited over an hour with our two young children before checking into a first-floor room facing the main road. The manager gave our boys a teddy bear each to acknowledge the delay, which was kind. A very friendly room service staff member helped set up the sofa bed in the tiny room. Even with the comfy pillows we’d chosen from the menu, traffic noise kept us awake despite the double glazing. After we explained what had happened the next morning, we were moved to a larger fourth-floor room, which we appreciated. The carpet there had visible stains, though, and the tiny toilet had poor ventilation and peeling paint around the window seal. We’d switched on the “make up room” light, but when we got back around 3:30pm the room hadn’t been serviced. The housekeeper apologised, said she was very busy and couldn’t manage a full clean, but offered to take the rubbish and change towels when I asked. Reception later told me housekeeping should be available until 6pm. The room was eventually cleaned when we returned later that evening.

We had a fuss-free, comfortable two-day stay in one of the Superior King rooms, and felt relaxed in the luxurious surroundings. The complimentary bar items and luxury toiletries were very welcome. The buffet breakfast was high quality with plenty of choice, and the breakfast staff were thoughtful. Faris helped us at checkout, and the whole team were welcoming and attentive to our requests. The Clermont was a very convenient base while we attended the Royal Garden Party. We’d stay again on another visit to the capital.
