The Dog Fox

Everyone we dealt with was friendly and helpful, from check-in through to checkout. They even found a safety pin for us at very short notice, which was a lifesaver. The room was quiet despite being right on the high street, and it was clean, comfortable, and a good size. The bathroom and shower were just as good. Breakfast had a decent choice, and the cooked breakfast was a good portion. The location is great and the pub is lovely. The only tiny letdown was the welcome shortbread in the room: it was rock hard and inedible, so staff should check and replace it whether guests eat it or not. Would thoroughly recommend.

The room was nicely decorated, and it was my first visit to this pub. I’d happily return after such a lovely evening celebrating my birthday with my family. The food was gorgeous, and the service was fantastic. Before our booking, I got a call saying they’d run out of roasts after a busy lunch. That was fine since the regular menu was still available, but when we arrived they surprised me by saying they’d managed to save four roasts for us. I can’t remember the young chap’s name, but he was attentive, helpful, and clearly cared. I supervise a pub floor myself, and he’s a real credit to the team.

The chocolate mousse was so good my wife nearly licked the pot clean. We had a wonderful meal at the Dog and Fox last night, and the food was incredible. The staff were friendly and knew their stuff. Alfie looked after us especially well. Already looking forward to coming back.

Charlie, the supervisor, made us feel right at home and looked after us well, from drink suggestions to a treat or two for Rosie. My wife and our adorable pooch had a really pleasant roast dinner. It was cool, the staff were very attentive, probably because Rosie is so cute, and the food was delicious. The apple cake was the icing on a lovely lunch. Thoroughly recommend.
