The place has a cozy, hip feel, and even the restroom had a cute antique style, lol. The service was very friendly, the food was good, and the fish on the fish and chips was huge. I liked the fish tacos, though they weren’t like the tacos we’re used to. The draft beer was good too, and the pour was big.

We had a blast at a friend’s comedy performance upstairs. It’s a lovely little pub, and the food and service were good too.

The Horse & Stables is a laid-back local in Waterloo, near a busy junction and not far from Waterloo Station. Lambeth North is the nearest Tube, just around the corner. It dates back to the early 19th century, when it was called the Horse & Groom for Wm. Younger & Co. Its name changed to The Horse in 2007, then The Horse & Stables in 2014. There’s a relaxed, lovely atmosphere inside. I visited at about 5pm on Coronation day in May, and the music, an eclectic mix from the Bee Gees to rare groove soul, was a highlight. The traditional decor has a few modern touches. It’s a medium-sized, one-bar pub, with a simple, generously sized servery on the left. There’s lots of seating. My favourite spot was the oldschool booth with Georgian panelling and brown velour seat covers. Across from the bar are comfortable booths, stylish wallpaper and large gold-framed mirrors. The beer list focused on keg craft, including beers from local London breweries. After a helpful suggestion from the nice chap behind the ramp, I chose a pint of 32 lager by @brewbynumbers. It was my first pint of 32 and I really enjoyed it. The price was a little above average. The menu is traditional pub grub with an American influence. The service was great. The chap behind the bar was welcoming and courteous, and helped me choose a beer. The beer selection was good, and the food gets positive reviews. I really enjoyed the visit, especially the friendly feel, and think it’s worth a visit for any occasion. Info correct when I visited on 06/05/23. 122-124 Westminster Bridge Rd, London SE1 7RW. A £6.30 pint of Brew by Numbers 32.

We enjoyed the appetizers and drinks, and the fish and chips and bangers and mash were both very good. Just be aware that they leave the skin on one side of the fish when they fry it.

I stopped by in the early afternoon for a cider. It was really quiet, with nice music. I’ve given four stars because there were only two ciders to choose from.
