The Hoxton Shoreditch

I was there for four nights on a business trip in May, and it was a very poor stay. The staff were friendly and genuinely sorry about what happened. They said they'd called the police several times and promised to email after my stay about a goodwill gesture and compensation. Nothing ever came through. On May 20-21, a party on the rooftop right outside my window played music until early morning. The sound was so loud it felt like I was at the techno party, and I barely slept. At nearly €400 a night, that was unacceptable. The room had terrible sound insulation. It was clean, but extremely small and basic for that price. The bathroom fan was loud enough to wake me at night, and the shower leaked badly, leaving water all over the floor after each use. Those are the kind of problems I'd expect from a budget hotel, not a four-star place. Even though the staff were kind, I can't recommend the hotel. The value for money was extremely poor, and the lack of follow-up after such a serious problem made the stay even more disappointing.

I really like the rooms' atmosphere. They're charming, and the a la carte breakfast is good too. This is my usual place to stay when I'm in London for business.

We found this to be a very good place to stay and would recommend it to other travellers looking for a good option, though it's not for those on a budget. The new hotel is stylish and in a quiet part of Shoreditch, near the Underground. Our room was comfortable and had everything we needed. Staff will make it up if you ask, and can refill things like water and coffee on request.

The evening reception staff, Ioana, Che and Kwaja, were really kind and lovely. The lobby was cosy and the beds very comfortable. Rooms were on the small side, but had everything we needed. Breakfast was a little basic, though it was enough to get our day started.
