The Marlo

The Japanese man at the front desk was very nice. The location is good, but it’s very crowded, and the flat has stairs to climb. There’s no housekeeping, and service overall was very limited. The furniture was uncomfortable, cheap-looking, worn, and poor quality. Street and hallway noise was horrible, the hallways were extremely hot with no AC, and the door shut very loudly. The shower smelled bad, the sheets and towels were poor quality, some surfaces were dirty, and there were stains on the walls. The rugs move around a lot. There’s no privacy because people on the street can see into the apartment. The blinds let in a lot of light, and there are no curtains. There’s no UK socket in the bathroom. The water quality felt bad, and there are lots of switches in the flat, with many amenities that were hard to use. There’s no key card needed for the lifts. I also encountered an extremely rude man at the front desk who just stared at me when I got off the lift. The phone lines were always on hold, so there was no way to reach the front desk.

The small modern apartment is clean and nice, and the service is friendly and great. I’ve stayed at the Marlo several times because of its best-in-class location. We like to think of Marlo as our place to stay whenever we’re in London.
