The Memoir Club

There could’ve been more shelves. I had nowhere to unpack my clothes or put things in the bathroom, though otherwise the room was very good and clean. It’s small, as London rooms are, but had a big window and plenty of natural light, plus a little table with a chair and ottoman. There was a kettle and coffee maker. The half-door shower always left water on the floor, but the toiletries were good quality. The air conditioning worked really well, even when it was 92 degrees outside, and the room got very cold. The street was quiet at night, and the hotel was near St Pancreas for train travel and close to tube stations. For what I paid, it was very good value in London. I’d stay again.

The relaxed restaurant atmosphere made for a memorable afternoon tea with my friend. We chatted as the drinks kept coming, and the staff were kind and accommodating. The food was lovely, especially the Brownies, which were the best I’ve ever tasted. The salmon sandwiches were my favourite, with the cucumber ones a close second. We’ll be back. Thanks to everyone who looked after us so well at the Memoire Club restaurant.

I had business in the area, so the location worked for me, but I’d never stay there again. The value for money was extremely poor. It was honestly the smallest and worst single room I’ve ever stayed in. Opening my suitcase left barely any room to move, and whenever the fire escape door shut, the whole room shook violently. The bathroom sink was clogged, and the shower fixtures were in terrible shape.

Breakfast was spectacular, and the hotel is especially handy if you need to catch a train from Euston. My single room was compact but still had all the comforts I wanted, and it was spotless. Staff were very kind and sorted out a small shower problem straight away.
