I booked through Booking. My flights to the UK were cancelled because of the war, three days before I was due to arrive. I let them know straight away, but they kept saying a refund was only possible if I cancelled seven days in advance. A heads-up for anyone thinking of booking.

The flat was just as it looked in the website photos, and I’ll stay again. Mine was a top-floor one-bedroom with a tiny terrace overlooking the neighboring streets and square. There was plenty of airflow with the terrace doors and bedroom window open, and the living area was a good size. It’s a great location and quiet at night, with the bedroom at the back. The stairs are worth knowing about, as the website says. They’re fine if you’re fit, but awkward with a suitcase. Sad to be checking out of such a fantastic apartment.

The flat was so awful we left after the first night, even though we’d booked four. It faced a busy street on the ground floor and was incredibly loud, like trying to sleep right out on the street. It was also terribly hot, and opening a window wasn’t really an option. We’ve never left a hotel or apartment early before, but we couldn’t stay. I asked to switch rooms and was told it wasn’t possible. I definitely wouldn’t recommend booking here.

We stayed in the top flat, which had a small terrace and an amazing view. Having a place of our own gave us the space to stay longer in London and enjoy it more. The Wi-Fi wasn’t suitable for work, but my phone plan let me use a hotspot in London just like I do in the US, and that worked great.

Self check-in and check-out were both easy, and the apartment was handy for the Tube. It was a lovely little place, comfortable, with a nice big bed. No oven, which was a shame, but there was a microwave, fridge and kettle. The noise was the one downside. Maybe I’m just used to the quiet countryside, but without secondary glazing, road sounds came through as loudly as with the windows open. I could hear other residents too, especially quite a bit of noise from upstairs. At least it sounded like they were having a good night 😂
