The courtyard stays so quiet, and the first sunlight coming through the window is lovely. Hard to believe you’re right in the middle of Farringdon. Like Hazlitts, the Rookery is one of London's finest hotels. The building’s layout, the colours, the atmosphere, and Bagheera all make the place feel magical. A real IYKYK spot.

We had a great time and would love to come back next time we’re in London. The old building has loads of character, though the rooms aren’t completely soundproof, which is clear from the photos. Downstairs, the library is so British that my water became tea as soon as I went in. The lobby staff were kind and really helpful, and Bagheera the cat seems to run security while still being happy to accept pets.

I was looking forward to staying here for my birthday, and tried to explain I’d come back next week once I felt better. I’d had an asthma attack and needed to go to hospital, so we called to cancel an hour after asking them to hold a reservation. We hadn’t booked or paid a deposit, and the room was still available to the public. The receptionist kept interrupting me and arguing with my husband, insisting we’d have to pay. He also said they were fully booked while claiming two other people had reserved for that night, which made no sense. He was rude, patronising, and quick to snap. It’s the worst communication I’ve had from a London hotel. I wouldn’t recommend staying here, 0/10. They need to train staff to speak politely to the public.

There weren’t any tea or coffee facilities in the room, as far as I could see. That’s a tiny quibble, though. The downstairs library, sitting room, and conservatory are inviting, and I especially enjoyed relaxing in the bath. This is a fantastic historic hotel in a lovely part of London. It’s not the cheapest, but for a special occasion it’s worth considering. Some other hotels cost a lot and still disappoint.

Breakfast was very good, and I’d really like to come back. It’s a charming, quiet little hotel. My room was lovely and spotless. The bathroom was a bit quirky, but that fits the place.
