We’d asked for a table by the big screen when we made our reservation, well before anyone else had booked because the website was empty. Instead, we got an awkward high table by a screen that had us looking up through the whole FA Cup final. When I asked to move to the big screen, they said the other tables were booked. Why couldn’t they have switched the reservations, given that we’d requested that spot? The table next to us had made the same request. A worker sarcastically asked them, “does the screen not there have the football”. Of course it did, but we didn’t want to watch that screen. Such a shame. This used to be a good pub, but the people working there now have ruined it.

We only stayed one night, and it was really good value. The beds were comfortable, and the bathroom and shower were clean and nice. The entrance is separate from the pub, and the location is very close to the metro. It was a smooth, pleasant stay.

The room above the pub was small and charmingly furnished. Downstairs, the pub is very nice, the staff are extremely friendly, the bar food is delicious, and there’s a large, well-balanced choice of beers and ciders on tap. The shower was the one problem. The control knob came off in my hand, so a quick wash was all I could manage. That was tolerable for a one-night stay, but there was no one around when we left, so we couldn’t report it. I’d probably stay again since everything else was fine.

The room was small, dim because the window was tinted, and the air conditioning didn’t work. Still, it’s in a good location near the metro. I’d recommend it as a base for up to two nights.
