The Woodman Hotel

Room 102 was pleasant, with a big bathroom, and having tea and coffee there was a nice touch. The toiletries holder was awkwardly placed for showering, though, and the roadside windows did little to block traffic or people arguing outside in the early hours. Staff were friendly enough, and hotel guests get a discount on food and drink. The pizzas are worth trying, but the mozzarella dish might arrive cold. Getting in at night means going around the back of the pub, which is open 24/7. I found that a little alarming. The location is decent, about five minutes' walk from Wimbledon Park tube or 20 minutes from Earlsfield, where there are plenty of restaurants and bars.

I had an easy, quick check-in, and the barman was happy to help when I arrived late. The rooms above the pub are quiet and comfortable enough, and it was a bargain for the time and convenient location. But the room wasn't clean enough: one surface had a sticky layer of dust, and there were stains and scale in the shower. Such a shame, because otherwise I had a pretty positive stay. A quick wipe with surface cleaner would've helped a lot. Some instructions for the air conditioner would've been useful too.

The rooms are spacious but need a better clean. There's tea and coffee in the room, and the pub food is okay, with discounts for guests. The terrace is good. To reach the accommodation you have to go through the pub or garden, since there's no separate guest entrance. The back entrance is left unlocked out of hours, which didn't feel very safe.

We got a quick train ride to wherever we needed to go on holiday, and the place was a five-minute walk from the train station. The rooms were very nice and clean, and the bathrooms looked newly renovated. When we arrived, they had trivia going and everyone was cool and friendly. Ana was a wonderful host and bartender, and great to chat with. She kindly gave my friend a free Skittle shot, which was delicious, and even lent me a wall adapter when I needed one on the way to the airport. Great service, a super price, and I'm really glad I booked here.
