Travelodge London Central Tower Bridge

The location was what made this pleasant, hassle-free business stay. Check-in was easy, everyone I dealt with was friendly and polite, and they kindly stored my bags at checkout. For a London budget hotel, my fifth-floor SuperRoom did what I needed. It faced the road rather than the rail tracks. It was small, as expected, but clean and had the usual things: an iron and board, coffee machine, kettle and a few Kit Kats, though the amenities vary by room type. Noise was noticeable, especially from inside the building. The loud floorboards were my main gripe, but they didn’t keep me from sleeping.

The one saving grace was the location. I’d rather pay a bit more and stay at a Premier Inn next time. The room was tiny, barely enough to walk around, and the road noise was wild: boy racers screeching and horns blaring constantly at 3am. I’ve never heard anything like it. This was a May bank holiday heatwave and there was no real provision for the heat. The fan was awful, the windows only opened about an inch, and my paid SuperRoom was like a supernatural oven. Even the Kit Kat had melted by the time we arrived. Staff seemed not to care when I raised it, so I filed a complaint with the online team. The stay was a shambles. Never again at this Travelodge.

We’ve stayed here twice and will probably come back. The rooms are clean and warm, the location is central, and it’s very affordable. Nothing fancy, but it does the job. It can usually be a bit noisy from the trains, though the station was closed during our latest visit, so it was nice and quiet. The breakfast is basic but does the job, and staff are always nice and helpful. There’s a great pub next door with a pleasant beer garden.

For the money, it’s hard to beat this place. It’s a nice budget hotel with a comfortable room, a very good breakfast and helpful staff. The temperature was nice, and there’s a secure door entry system. It’s about a five-minute walk to the tower of London and fent church Street station, with easy access to other parts of London.
