Travelodge Plus London Mile End

The room standards and hospitality fell well below what we expected, and I wouldn’t recommend Travelodge London Mile End based on this stay. After we’d checked into our assigned room and settled in, reception called several hours later asking us to return and switch rooms. We were tourists with plans for the day, and having to cross the city again because of poor room allocation was neither reasonable nor convenient. The next day we were moved, but the new room had visible red, blood-like stains on the carpet, which raised serious cleanliness and hygiene concerns. The hotel couldn’t offer us another room when we asked. Guests paying a significant amount should be able to expect basic service, cleanliness, and professionalism. Travelodge should review its room allocation, customer service, and housekeeping practices for future guests.

If you just need somewhere to sleep and shower, it’s enough, and apart from the cleaning problem we had no major complaints. We stayed five nights and asked twice, but the room still wasn’t cleaned. Free internet only lasts 30 minutes, then it costs £3.20 a day. It’s a low-budget hotel in a convenient spot next to Stephey Green tube and a Tesco supermarket, with food and drinks easy to find. The neighborhood is mostly like an immigration zone. One more thing: the tube station has no lift, which was a minor problem for us with luggage and a baby stroller.

We slept really well, with comfortable beds and no disturbances. For four nights we paid to upgrade our room, and the stay was very affordable, especially over the bank holiday weekend. Travelodge Mile End was a nice place to stay, well located for the tubes, with a couple of nice bars nearby. We’d return.

The staff service was attentive, and the hotel is very close to the underground, making it a handy base in London. The rooms were quiet and very clean. The toilet took a few attempts to flush, the bathroom had a strange smell, and the shower wasn’t very good. I’d stay again for the location.
