The balcony had a nice view, and inside the apartment was clean and looked good. There isn’t much to do nearby, though central London is about 15 minutes away by train, and the station is just around the corner. The building is on a busy road, but the apartment itself stayed relatively quiet, so it didn’t bother us.

The spacious apartment looked lovely, and the location is good, but the promised air conditioning and Wi-Fi didn’t work properly. In apartment 11, the Wi-Fi was patchy to nonexistent, and the air conditioning hadn’t worked since we arrived. We were told maintenance would quickly inspect the units the day after our arrival, but by the end of day two nobody had come. I’d emailed and called the office three times. Each time, they said another company handled the air conditioning and they didn’t know when anyone could come. They also said some apartments have air-conditioning issues and there may not be much they can do. I suggested they shouldn’t advertise air conditioning, and the office staff said I was probably right. The apartment was extremely warm, and we couldn’t open the windows at night because of the street noise. In August, the heat and inability to communicate over the internet were major problems. It’s a shame given the good location. I wouldn’t recommend this building if those things matter to you.

We got good value booking through third-party sites, paying about what we’d have spent at hostels for a self-contained apartment. The flat was reasonable, though it could use a fresh coat of paint. The kitchen was good, and having a Tesco Metro downstairs was very handy. There are proper local pubs one street back and on Commercial Road, plus some Gordon Ramsey poncified pubs down by the waterfront. The bed was just adequate, and the fold-out one wasn’t very good. Getting around is easy, with DLR Limehouse station across the road and a Boris Bike station on the corner. Limehouse’s gentrified area is the other side of Commercial Road. This is east end London, so it isn’t grand or pretty, but it feels safe. The apartment entrance is secure, though it could be presented better. Some signage would help, instead of the faded inkjet printout. The process of scanning and sending passports and a copy of the credit card, with most of the number obscured, felt far more excessive and invasive than any booking or confirmation process I’ve had to do. I found it quite annoying.

The apartment was clean, roomy, and in a central spot, so we had a great stay at Valet Apartments Limehouse. I’d happily book it again. The only reason I’m giving four stars is that the initial communication could’ve been a bit better.

David was really friendly when he welcomed us, and the location was good. Sleeping was another story: the ventilation was loud, and traffic beeping carried on until 4am. I know they can’t control the traffic, but noise reducing curtains would help. The Wi-Fi cut out completely in the evening, so we couldn’t order takeaway, and nobody answered when we called at 5pm. They also charged an extra £75 to hold our luggage at limehouse. Save yourself the hassle and stay somewhere else.
