Veeve - Hyde Park Hideaway

Mohammad, the GM, was kind, helpful and very accommodating. We had a wonderful two-night stay in December. Breakfast was delicious, and the staff there were lovely too. Thanks for everything, we're looking forward to coming back.

The bed was comfortable enough, and service was efficient. I liked the first impression of the foyer and library, but my room on the fourth floor was shabby. The creaky laminate floor, poorly finished skirting boards and noisy extractor, which couldn't be switched off, all need attention. Some lights didn't work, and the shower was weak. My room faced an extremely noisy service area. It sounded like roadworks were going on outside all night.

The breakfast was amazing, and both the reception and breakfast teams were really helpful. We liked our room and its facilities, and a little welcome surprise of sweets and a drink was waiting there, which we hadn't expected. That small touch gave our trip a lovely start. We stayed at the Mornington hotel a week before Christmas and will definitely return.

The location worked well, close to Paddington Station and Lancaster Gate tube station, and the property has tasteful interiors. We had an executive suite, though it was smaller than I'd expected for the price and its window looked inward onto ventilation pipes. The bathroom floor was raised, so the shower seemed suited only to very short people. They provided water, fizzy drinks, chocolate, tea and coffee. Fine for our short two-night stay.
