Washington Mayfair Hotel

The room was the only part of my stay that worked: it looked recently renovated and was structurally fine. Even so, the keys stopped working every evening, sending me back to reception again and again. The lobby and first-floor spaces were visibly dirty, with stained carpets and poorly maintained public bathrooms. Breakfast was weak and poorly executed, and the restaurant service showed the same lack of attention as reception. The front desk was disorganized and unhelpful. I had two reservations under my name and was charged for both, with no initiative to fix it, no one taking ownership, and no urgency. I was also billed for things I hadn't requested and overcharged for breakfast. The whole handling felt unprofessional. For a hotel in Mayfair, I expected basic competence, cleanliness, and professional service, and it failed on all three. Location alone doesn't justify the price when service culture is absent and operations are so weak. There are much better options in London at similar or even lower rates. I wouldn't stay again.

The refurbished room worked really well for us, including the window looking out over the outside. The hotel has an older, vintage feel, but the service was lovely, especially Ayushi, who was so attentive and helpful. She even arranged a little birthday surprise in our room. I’d come back for the location and service.

The traffic noise was the one drawback, so light sleepers might want earplugs. Otherwise, it was a convenient stay, with staff who were fine and large, clean rooms that had everything we needed.

Partiepan and Agnes made my friend’s birthday feel especially personal. They were attentive, thoughtful, and professional, and their care really lifted the whole afternoon. We had a wonderful tea at The Washington Mayfair, in a setting that felt elegant but still warm and relaxed. The teas were excellent, and the fresh sandwiches, warm scones, and pastries were as lovely to eat as they were to look at. Everything was presented beautifully. They went all out to make my friend feel special, and we left with plans to return. I’d recommend afternoon tea here to anyone after a relaxed, refined experience with great service.
