I stay here whenever I come to London, and I'm a solo traveller who's never felt uncomfortable, even walking back at night after a show. People call the area “sketchy,” but it feels real and residential, with a couple of urban universities nearby. Shoreditch Market, Brick Lane, and the Tower are easy to visit from here. A tube stop is five minutes away on foot, and the 115 bus practically stops outside. There are also two grocery stores just a few minutes' walk away. It's a bit farther by tube from the West End theatres and fancy shops, but so what? The staff are great, and the rooms are comfortable and super clean, even if they're small by American standards. Most European hotel rooms would be small to Americans, since hotel rooms there are generally big. Just book it, you won't regret it.
Our room on the 7th floor was comfortable, clean, and well kept, and we really enjoyed the city view. The stay was very good overall, though the toilet wouldn't flush properly and we had no usable toilet for one night. We told the staff, but there were no other rooms to move us to. I'd consider staying again, and hope maintenance problems like this can be sorted out faster next time.
The staff were the highlight of our week at Wilde Aparthotels, 73 Commercial Road. Everyone, from reception to the people working on the floors, was kind, helpful, and ready to assist at any time. Thank you! The area has good public transport links and the Tower of London is a short walk away. We were there for a week this February 2026. The studio was nice and well equipped, though maybe a bit small for three people. That wasn't much of a problem since we spent very little time inside. Maddalena, Mariella and Paola from Italy.
We stayed more than two weeks and had a wonderful, almost perfect time. The reception, housekeeping, and maintenance teams were impeccable, quick to respond, and went above and beyond whenever we asked for something. The room was comfortable and well equipped. For a longer stay, they clean weekly, which seems reasonable to me. If you want daily cleaning, you can pay for it here, as you would at home. And you don't have to keep your rubbish in the room, they'll collect it whenever you like. The gym and breakfast were nice extras, both a good enough size for what they offer. The one thing that needs attention is the laundry machines. A sock got stuck between the plastic grommet, and there was a lot of dirt inside when I retrieved it. The machine doors were stained too. If they cleaned those more carefully, everything would be perfect. We'll definitely return.
The location is second to none, and the pool, sauna, and steam rooms are good, though very busy. We had little luck in the executive lounge, where there was hardly any food or drink left. Alice, a lovely girl from Romania, was the real highlight. Since it was our first time at this hotel group, I politely asked if an upgrade might be possible, and she put us in an executive room with all the bells and whistles. She was pleasant, helpful, and very informative, a real credit to the company. I'd recommend a stay here.
