Our dog was welcome in the pub and got plenty of fuss, while we spent both evenings there with the friendly local clientele. The bar was cosy and tasteful, and the staff were accommodating and friendly. We had excellent meals on both visits. We were passing through to meet family on the way to and from Edinburgh in our small motorhome, and after contacting the pub ahead of time, we could park our 'Bus' overnight in a corner of the car park on each trip. What a gem of a stopover. Thanks to Claire and her Team. We’ll definitely be back. Stephie, Lee and Teddy☺️.

We found this pub while out for a country walk nearby, and we'll definitely come again. The food and service were outstanding. The girl who served us was really friendly. My wife had a fish finger stottie, which was lovely, and I had the huge fish and chips. Both portions were generous. The pub is lovely, though a bit cold, so we sat by the fire. Credit to the owners. 5*

We travelled here to eat after reading the reviews, but were very unimpressed. Three of us were tempted by the crispy pork belly with roast potatoes, turnip and black pudding. The menu looked good, but the food seemed to come straight from the microwave and was uncooked. The potatoes were raw and the meat was dry. A total waste of money. Never again.

The fire made for a lovely atmosphere, and the staff were pleasant and caring. We were staying in the village, looked up the Shoulder of Mutton, and decided to try it this evening after reading the good reviews. Everything was excellent, from the comfortable ambiance to the great meals. We really enjoyed the visit. Highly recommended, thank you.

We were holidaying nearby, so my wife and I stopped in for a pub meal. The food was fantastic and the customer service was great. We couldn't have asked for more. It was quiet on Monday evening, perhaps because it was no longer summer holiday season. 10/10.
