The Old Millhouse Inn

The refurbished rooms have brought the place up to date, and the welcome was very pleasant. The bar downstairs has improved too and now makes this another good pub option in Polperro. There are TV screens and some food. Recommended.

Renovated a few years ago, this village pub in an old mill has decent staff and a good selection of well-kept cask ales. It’s comfortable, with an open fire on cold evenings and plenty of little nooks to settle into. There’s a good choice of food, though I didn’t eat there that time. My one criticism is that when you come in as a new face, the regulars tend to watch you. It feels uncomfortable for a few moments, and might be enough to make some potential customers turn around and leave, which I haven’t experienced in the village’s other pubs.

I’ve only experienced The Old Millhouse as somewhere to have a drink, not the accommodation. For that, it’s my favourite of the many places in Polperro. The drinks selection is good, the bar staff are friendly, and it’s cosy, with darts and pool as well. They also run a decent quiz on Thursdays.

A comfortable, lovely place tucked off the beaten track, with great staff and well-priced ales. I haven’t eaten here yet, but the food coming out of the kitchen looked and smelled gorgeous.
