Wherry Hotel

The carvery was great value, and we even got another 20% off with the January deal. There was a good choice of roast meats and vegetables, all presented nicely, and the food was lovely. The server was chatty and polite and told us which meats were available. Josh looked after us well, checking during the meal and being on hand if anything came up. The dining area was clean and well kept, with a lovely, welcoming atmosphere. I can't rate The wherry Oulton Broad highly enough. Thanks, we'll be back soon.

We had lovely views over the water while the snow was falling, and the meal was great value. The service was first class, with really friendly staff. I had a thick, mouthwatering slice of roast beef as well as turkey, and there was a huge range of vegetables, including my favourite, cauliflower cheese.

The breakfast was fresh, hot and good quality, with the buffet replenished so the choices stayed available. We were pleasantly surprised by how good it was for a breakfast that wasn't cooked to order. There were cooked dishes and a small continental selection, self-serve cold juice, and hot drinks brought to the table when ordered. We were four people with one dog on a Sunday morning and hadn't booked. On arrival, we were shown to the indoor dog-friendly area. Rob was friendly, polite and very helpful throughout, topping up drinks and checking that the food and visit were going well. We had a superb time and will return, and recommend a visit to others.

The Wherry has plenty going for it: the location, events that seem to run there, and the option to stop in for a beer or some food. I haven't stayed at the hotel, so can't comment on that. The staff are down to earth, polite and genuine, and it's a pleasant place to spend time. On Sunday my partner and I came for a carvery and really enjoyed it. Everything on my plate was gorgeous, and the staff were helpful and pleasant. This was my second visit, after a casual lunch sometime in the summer, and it may be my favourite place in the Lowestoft area so far. I'll be back soon, for a meal or just a beer.
