We needed a later meal on Sunday, and the staff were really friendly and accommodating. The roast was so good, with plenty of gravy and a generous amount of vegetables. A shame we're heading home tomorrow and won't be back this time. Thank you.

We popped in for lunch and were so glad we did. The food was excellent, tender and full of flavour, and I had a lovely pint of Pedigree. The woman serving us was friendly and attentive, checking we were happy and genuinely pleased that we enjoyed the meal. Well worth another visit this week.

The bar staff were charming and enthusiastic. At the front, there's a cosy snug with a quaint Victorian range, piled with logs and burning away beautifully. There's a good choice of non-alcoholic drinks for any nominated driver brave enough to drive on the town's untreated roads.

For a basic pub lunch, it's hard to beat this place, though it isn't especially exciting. We had the ham and tuna mayonnaise baguettes with chips and salad, both more than acceptable, and paid just £6.75. The beer was good, £2.70 in the afternoon, and the wine was good too. Dee gave us especially pleasant service.

We really enjoyed stopping here for lunch. It's a traditional, well-kept pub with friendly locals, tasty food at fair prices and a chatty barmaid.
