The evening felt cosy and the service was lovely. Frankie recommended the crispy hake Kiev, which was divine, and the whole team was pleasant and quick. Our food arrived sooner than expected, too. My partner and I had a great meal, with lovely scenery, and I’d happily recommend the restaurant.

The pea and asparagus risotto, pain perdu, and lemon crème brûlée were the standouts. We came for a family meal using a gift card that was valid for two years, and it made a superb present. The setting, staff, and food were all top notch. The Michelin listing is well deserved, and the prices are extremely reasonable. We didn’t stay overnight.

We were touched by what happened with our drinks. A waitress accidentally knocked over one of the three cocktails we’d ordered, apologized profusely, and quickly brought a replacement. When the bill arrived, none of the cocktails had been charged. It was a quiet, thoughtful gesture that impressed all three of us and strengthened our already high opinion of the customer service. The food was, as usual, to a very high standard. We meet a friend here for lunch regularly, and had been in yesterday.

At £68 for two, our three course vegan meal was very good value. The restaurant has an excellent river view, and the staff fitted us in at short notice. The green curry soup was full of flavour, the carrot tartin had a beautiful glaze, and the key lime pie was a lovely finish. You’ll need to book. I’d recommend it to vegans and non vegans alike. A real find.
