The Hollies

We’ve already booked The Hollie’s for Christmas 2027. There was plenty of room for our 10 adults and 6 kids, so even with the usual family chaos, everyone could have their own space and relax. Tim and Vivi had even put up Christmas decorations, and the extra kitchen space was a bonus when we made Christmas dinner. The kitchen had everything we needed. The house is huge and immaculate, even better than the pictures, and the whole stay was perfect for our growing family. Thank you so much!

The house itself was beautiful, clean and tidy, and we slept well. My friend and I stayed in room 6. When we arrived Sunday afternoon, we were told the room wasn’t ready, but that didn’t bother us. We left it clean and tidy on Monday morning, with our cases already downstairs, then had breakfast in the kitchen at 10:15. At 10:55, Tim came in and asked us to leave by 11. He also asked if he could go into our room to clean it, and I said of course. Then he said we should have told him we’d left the room, because the cleaning cupboard was in there. We were finishing our tea and washing up our cups and plates, but the way he spoke to us felt rude. We were out at 11:02, and hadn’t made a mess or stayed in the room past checkout. We weren’t asked whether we’d enjoyed our stay, slept well, or liked breakfast. The way we were treated left us uncomfortable and unwelcome, and it ruined what had otherwise been a lovely stay. I was so shocked that I didn’t say much at the time, though I wish I had. With all the rave reviews, we’d been looking forward to visiting. I’d like to hear back from Tim.

The room and bathroom were fantastic, and I had a great night’s sleep in a relaxed atmosphere. Nick was a brilliant host and made me feel welcome, and breakfast was amazing. Finding the place was a little challenging, and parking is very tight. Local pub meals are hit and miss at the moment, so you’ll need to ring around to find somewhere serving food. Still, it’s a must-stay place.

Tim gave us a warm welcome while my colleagues and I were working away, and he looked after us well. The rooms were lovely, the shower was out of this world, and he sorted us a proper cooked brekkie. I’d come back for a trip that wasn’t work, just to relax and enjoy the peaceful countryside.
