We came with family for Sunday lunch, but the food was so bad we skipped dessert. Everything was bland and flavourless, and none of it tasted fresh. The roast potatoes were rubbery, the pork dry, and the bowl of vegetables was a sad offering. My vegetable loaf was inedible. Nothing was hot enough either. The pub felt cold and joyless. Staff were friendly enough, but nobody asked how the meal was, even with so much left on our plates. It was incredibly disappointing to eat out and feel we could have made a better meal at home in a nicer setting.

We didn’t stay here, just came in for a meal, and it was disappointing. The Yorkshires were delicious and dessert was nice, though the meringue wasn’t homemade as advertised. The potatoes had several bad black bits, and the veg was tired and overcooked apart from the broccali. The stuffing was a dry ball, and the gravy was thin and there wasn’t much of it.

I’ve been coming here for years for the homemade fish pie. It’s been presented in different ways over time, but the cheese sauce always makes me smile, and they include vegetables in a small bowl. There’s a reason they don’t keep adding things to the menu, they stick to their values. I’ve attached 3 photos from different years.

Thanks, Debbie! We had a great time at lunch on Saturday. The portions were huge, the food was lovely and reasonably priced, and the staff were super kind.

I stayed once and regretted it straight away. The rooms are so basic they feel miserable, and the pub food is forgettable. The place feels tired, dated and joyless, with an atmosphere that’s depressing rather than cosy. I won’t be back.
