We stayed with family for a wedding in Lyme and, as older guests, were given ground floor bedroom 1. The room didn't seem well thought out for elderly or disabled people. The shower had a high step and was slippery. A wheelchair wouldn't have fitted into the bathroom, and getting it into the bedroom would have been difficult too. There's just one mirror, over the basin, and I could only see the top of my head in it. It really needs changing. There weren't any spare pillows, so we had one each, which was difficult when you need to sleep propped up.

The house was very clean and had a spacious kitchen, but much of the place felt tired. There was quite a lot of road noise, and the stairs were difficult, with their rather small steps. Dogs are allowed, though there are no gates to stop them running out onto the road. Also, the cockerel next door is guaranteed to wake you at 5:30.

Everything was clean when we arrived, but the stay was a letdown overall. The photos gave us the wrong idea about how isolated it would be. It's a former hotel, a 60s-70s building that needs a lot of TLC. I half expected Basil Fawlty to appear. The garden was neglected, and although the property is described as dog friendly, there are no gates at the entrance. Not good.

There was plenty of parking, and the welcome pack with milk, tea, coffee and biscuits was helpful. The large house has a big kitchen with lots of large pans, trays and crockery. The bar is well stocked with glasses and has a fridge. It could do with redecorating, but for the price it was okay.

A great place for a holiday with friends. We could all eat together in one dining room, and there are two lounges and a drinks bar with two chiller cabinets. Lyme Regis is very convenient to get to from here.
