The three-day Raku weekend was an amazing pottery experience and a lovely getaway. I stayed in the cosy Gypsy Caravan, and Dave’s expert tuition really improved my throwing. The students had different levels of experience, but everyone made lovely pieces. Raku firing on the last day produced some incredible results. We also get to have our stoneware pieces fired and delivered or collected, so there are more pottery treasures to come. We were served a wonderful lunch each day, and Milford on Sea has some great restaurants for the evenings. I wholeheartedly recommend the place.

Dave taught with patience, clarity and encouragement, and for the first time I’ve come away feeling genuinely confident about throwing and centring. I had the most wonderful weekend at Vinegar Hill. The Raku session was the highlight. It was magical to watch the pieces change in the firing, and I’m thrilled with the effects we made. Now I’m inspired and eager to learn more. Huge thanks to the team for a welcoming, memorable and beautifully run workshop. I’ll definitely be back.
Our pots are sitting in the sun on a windowsill, looking resplendent, and we show them to everyone who visits. Thanks so much to you and your team of elves for a really fun weekend of throwing and firing. The course was structured so we could try everything and leave with something we’d made. Your tuition was excellent, and the catering was wonderful too.
Dave helped correct lots of mistakes I’d picked up while teaching myself. Even with ten people in the group, the instruction was tailored to each of our skill levels. The Raku session was the weekend’s highlight. Great teacher, lovely food and brilliant company. I couldn’t ask for more from the fab three-day course at Vinegar Hill.
I learnt a lot over the three days at Vinegar Hill Pottery. David explained things very clearly and was an excellent teacher. I’d highly recommend the course for beginners, as well as potters like me who need a bit of help on the wheel.
