Wisteria House

It’s in a very good spot, with a lovely walk to the marina and a good car park. The room was large and the bed comfortable. Being on the high street does mean traffic noise; a room at the back might be quieter.

The B&B side of this place felt as though it was a nuisance to the owner, and the stay was very poor and disappointing. Breakfast wasn’t provided, supposedly “due to COVID,” which I found hard to accept and misleading given the way it was advertised. If COVID was a major concern, I’d have expected hand soap, but there wasn’t any. Cups and glasses also weren’t replaced daily. I ended up ironing shirts on an old dining table because there was no ironing board, and had to use towels and cushions for privacy in the bathroom because the curtains and blinds weren’t adequate. Our small room, “Edwards,” was on the ground floor beside the road and front door. Traffic and people outside were noisy enough that we stayed out until we knew the place was closed to the public.

The location was great, with easy access to Lymington and its own car park. Fruit and yogurt were available at breakfast, which was nice, and they topped up the milk and biscuits. But the cups and glasses weren’t replaced each day, so we had to bring washing-up liquid and clean them ourselves. A weird B&B above a conservative club.

The price per person felt extortionate for just a bed, especially with breakfast not included because of the pandemic. Restrictions have been lifted now, so I was extremely disappointed. I booked this weekend trip for my Dad and brother and wouldn’t recommend it.
