The mattress was awful, so soft that I could feel all the springs. The metal bed frame creaked whenever I moved, and it was only a double, which felt a bit cramped. We overheard another couple complaining about the bed too. I slept badly, and that’s why I can’t give more than three stars. A shame, since the location is perfect, the service was brilliant, and breakfast was really yummy. Room access is tight, the floors are uneven, and the layout is a bit strange.

A very affordable stay, with a great breakfast that included coffee and a full English. I rented the family room, a double with a single bed. It was a great halfway stop on a New Forest hike, close to local restaurants, and had parking.

The apartments were spacious, but the decor felt dated, and there was carpet in both the lounge and bedrooms. I went to reception to ask for extra bedding, but nobody was there for a while. The place could use some modernising and more attention to cleanliness. The best part is the location, tucked three minutes behind Lyndhurst high street. It’s easy to stroll to the shops or hire a bike.

We only stayed one night in a family room, which had a double bed and two singles. It was very spacious, and the bathroom was large, with a bathtub and shower. The staff were friendly and helpful, and we slept well. Breakfast was excellent, filling without leaving us stuffed. Convenient location and plenty of parking. There’s no lift, so be ready for some narrow staircases. Would definitely recommend.
