We've returned several times, which says a lot. It's a lovely family-run hotel, with great food, nice rooms and sea views. There's plenty to do nearby, whether you enjoy walking, gardens and stately homes, or wandering around pretty seaside towns and villages with good restaurants, pubs and cafes.

We were perfectly placed for walks on the South West coast path and trips into North Devon, and Simon has been coming here for years. The food was a real highlight. Breakfast was superb, especially the yoghurt with homemade fruit compote and the Welsh rarebit. At dinner, the menu looked a little sedate, but I'd never had a cheese soufflé so fluffy in my life. We tried the chicken and leek pie the next night after another guest recommended it, and it was packed with chicken and delicious. The cinnamon apple crumble and plum and almond tart were lovely, too. They even made a delicious, very chocolatey birthday cake on request, much better than shop-bought. Helen does wonderful fresh home cooking, and Kate runs the front of house expertly. They also had homemade cakes to take on our walks: big wedges of moist chocolate banana cake one morning, then flapjack that was crisp on the outside, soft inside and delicious the next day. Our room was cleaned and remade daily, with everything refreshed. The shower was hot and powerful after hiking, the beds supportive and comfortable, and the linen was wonderfully crisp. And those views over the Bristol Channel are fabulous.

The breakfasts and kind, attentive hosting made this a delightful stay. The host was genuinely warm and made me feel right at home. My room was comfortable, nicely arranged and clean, with a lovely view. Each morning brought a tasty range of freshly prepared dishes, and I looked forward to breakfast. Chough’s Nest Hotel was a lovely place to stay, and I'd recommend it to anyone after an enjoyable visit. Anna

Kate and Helen are wonderful hosts, and their home-cooked meals and generous breakfasts made the stay even better. The hotel was spotless and comfortable, with evening meals available if you want one. It sits in a fantastic spot on the cliff top in Lynton, and the view alone is worth the price. We've stayed at nearly every place on North Walk, and this is the best. We'll be back next year.

The room was comfortable and had a fabulous sea view, and breakfast was very good. The two ladies took great care of us during a really lovely stay. We'll be back.
