The hosts were really friendly and polite. The place is very basic, though the price reflects that. Breakfast was small but decent. There was no soundproofing, so at 2am we could hear the couple in the room above having sex. Luckily, it didn't last long.

We stayed overnight during a weekend hiking trip to the Peaks. Parking was a bit tight but adequate, and it was off-road, which was a welcome bonus. The price was reasonable, especially given the COVID pandemic, and I'd stay again. The place was clean and basic, with a compact but comfortable room. A few minor repairs were needed, but the service was excellent. Fred, the proprietor, was very helpful and accommodating, and communicated well without being intrusive. Because of COVID restrictions, breakfast came to our room instead of being served in the dining room. That must have been a logistical headache for the cook, but they handled it well.

I wouldn't give this even one star. It was disgusting, more like a hostel, and I've stayed in much cleaner hostels. When we arrived, a police officer was looking for someone staying there, which was not a good start. Our room had flies and was unhygienic, with dirt and dust all over the skirting boards, doors and frames. The bathroom had a 99p bottle of Alberto balsam shampoo for everyone to share, which felt unhygienic too. I told the manager I didn't feel comfortable staying there, but he had little to say. He still charged my card and is now refusing a refund, even though we didn't stay and were there for no more than two minutes while booking another hotel. Avoid!

The owners were welcoming and friendly, and my partner loved the soft pillows. Breakfast was good too. It was fine for an overnight stay, though the room could use a fresh coat of paint.

The room was a good size and had everything I needed, and there was a large car park. The owners were friendly, and the breakfast room has been refurbished tastefully. Breakfast was a beautifully cooked, clean plate of food, with cereals and grapefruit also available, plus good coffee. I paid £46 for a double room, which was fantastic value. It's very close to town and highly recommended. Five stars for what you get for the money, not because it's the Ritz.
