Five Lakes Resort

We had a quiet room with a lovely view, and it was a good size. Check-in was efficient and helpful. Our daughter enjoyed the pool, which was a good size for all of us, and my husband and I took turns running around the pleasant golf course. Dinner was tasty and fresh, and breakfast the next day was plentiful and delicious. We really enjoyed the stay and would recommend it. I'd definitely come back.

The hotel sits outside town, which made for a relaxing atmosphere, and the welcome was warm and friendly. It's suited to golf lovers and people after a relaxing spa visit. The lounge can also be hired for a party, conference or quick meeting. The hotel rates were good, and I had an excellent stay.

For my partner's birthday, they upgraded us to an executive room for free. The countryside views were fantastic, with no car park in sight. The whole package was great, from the range of dishes on the menu to the food, which was all cooked perfectly. Breakfast was full and had everything you could ask for. Staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. Looking forward to visiting again.

The pool was standard, with a hot tub, but the spa didn't feel as luxurious as I'd expected. The changing rooms for the spa are separate from the pool's, and there are no showers in the spa ones. Staff seemed pleasant when we arrived. We didn't use the steam or sauna rooms. I did find the dimly lit relaxation room calming, with its four-poster beds, bean bags and music. My massage was fantastic and firm enough, though the others I came with weren't as happy. We were all on the same package, but each massage was different. Our afternoon tea was booked for 3pm, but they had us down for 1300. After being told it would be 10 minutes, we waited at the table for an hour, though we could have waited somewhere else. At one point there wasn't a single loo roll in any toilet. I don't think I'd return unless there was a really good offer.
