We visited Ye Olde White Harte Hotel for lunch on a winter day and found friendly service, comfortable surroundings, fabulous food and well-kept Ales. The historic hotel and gastro pub sits right on the quay at Burnham-on-crouch. Residents can park up the lane, while there's a smaller car park behind the building for non-residents. The area has lovely scenery and great views over the estuary, perhaps for a walk after dinner if you still feel like it after the excellent desserts. Definitely recommend.

The White Harte had a lovely breakfast, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout. I ended up there on New Year's Eve after being disappointed by the bunk beds at the Royal Yacht Club, which weren't suitable for adults. I called to check availability and got double room 8. It was clean and comfortable, with a great view of the River Crouch that I've added. I'd definitely stay again.

The estuary view is a big part of what makes YOWHH such a gem of a proper old English pub. The local ales are lovely, and the food's always very good and generous. It's a 17th-century building with loads of character, and both the staff and local customers have been friendly to us. We love stopping by when we're in beautiful Burnham, and have stayed in the rooms a couple of times before.

The setting, atmosphere, staff and £11 breakfast were all good. My friends stayed here for my father's funeral and had no complaints. The hotel sits on the Quay and feels as old and quaint as the hills. Drinks are well priced, and breakfast was good too. Add an extra sausage and rasher of bacon and it'd beat all the cafés in town.

I can't comment on the rooms since I didn't stay overnight. I was there with a group of 24 for Christmas dinner, and the food was exceptional. We had starters, mains and desserts. I'd definitely recommend it.
