We had a lovely two-night stay for a wedding at iscoyd park, and the food in the lion was lovely too. Our room was spacious, clean and beautifully decorated, with mini flapjacks and refreshments left for us each day. From the moment we arrived, everyone was exceptionally friendly and the service was great. Can’t recommend the place enough.

The breakfast was tasty, and the quality ingredients were easy to notice. We stayed one night for a work do up the road, and the room was clean, comfortable and really well presented. Had a couple of drinks in the bar too, where the staff made us feel welcome. Highly recommend if you’re nearby.

Ali and Tia were brilliant, friendly and attentive, and the service at The Lion in Malpas was spot on throughout. It’s a cracking place with a lovely atmosphere. We tried the fresh, delicious mussels, a juicy and flavourful burger, and chicken wings with just the right amount of heat. The beef pie was proper comfort food, and the sticky toffee pudding was incredible, one of the best we’ve had. Great food and service.

We’d definitely come back. It’s a lovely, quiet village, and The Lion team made our first stay away with our dog really easy. They left dog treats and a water bowl in the room, and the staff in the bar and restaurant made a fuss of our little dog. He could join us in the bar, restaurant at night and at breakfast. Our room opened onto a nicely done courtyard with planting, outdoor seats and block paving. Inside, the bed was comfortable, with a seating area, lamp and current magazine. There was also a dedicated drinks area with bottled water, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, crisps and biscuits for after a walk. Breakfast was included and had a fantastic choice. The buffet offered fresh juices, pastries, fruit, yogurt and cereal, and the veggie full English and Malpas & Cheshire full breakfasts were tasty. We also enjoyed the bar snacks and main courses. The shower drained more slowly than expected, but staff dealt with it straight away when we mentioned it, and there were no more problems. Management may not know about this kind of issue unless they use the shower themselves. Great customer service all round.

The rooms were spacious, beautiful and clean, and the staff were attentive and engaging all night. We ate there and really enjoyed the delicious food and lovely menu. At our request, they put birthday extras in our friend’s room. We also accidentally left a jacket behind, and they posted it back to us. Fantastic place, and I hope we get a reason to visit again.
