The bathroom made the stay less comfortable than it could have been. It felt too untidy to take a bath, and may need renovation. The staff and owners were awesome, friendly, welcoming, and attentive, and the location, service, breakfast, and dinner were all great. With some work on the bathroom, this place could offer an excellent stay.

For the £70 I paid, I wish I could give this place more than five stars. It's a beautiful old pub with down-to-earth staff and decent grub. People leaving poor reviews over rooms or bathrooms that aren't immaculate should consider whether their own bathroom sealant is spotless. Mine certainly isn't five-star. Pubs are closing every week because of higher rates and living costs, and many are trying to keep going by offering accommodation. If you want five-star, pay £250 or more a night. You get what you pay for. Regards, Jamie from Sheffield. P.S. I stole a Yorkshire t-bag to endorse this wonderful pub 🙏🏻

We booked a twin ensuite at very short notice before our trip on the flying scotsman, and the booking call was handled really well. We got there after food service had ended, so I can't comment on the meals. When we said we'd be leaving before breakfast, they offered to put together a small picnic and let us choose a sandwich. It was waiting for us first thing in the morning. We'd definitely stay again.

The staff were warm and welcoming, and breakfast the next morning was decent. The room, though, needs considerable work. I was in Room 1 at The Wentworth Arms, which faces the main road. Its old, decayed single-glazed windows need urgent repair, and traffic was clearly audible all night. A draft also left the room very cold, even with the radiator on. The décor and general condition felt dated. In the bathroom, several floor tiles were cracked, and the electric shower was hard to use safely because the water could suddenly become extremely hot unless adjusted very carefully. I checked in around 9 pm and found the kitchen had closed at 8, so I had to find food elsewhere. It may have been because it was Monday, but I would have appreciated knowing in advance. The hospitality was good, but the accommodation needs significant maintenance and modernisation for a more comfortable stay.

The staff were helpful and friendly, and the food was nicely prepared and presented. For a building over 200 years old, the stay was good value, including breakfast. There is parking behind the building, as well as some off-road space at the front. Access upstairs to the rooms could be difficult for disabled people.
