Hotel Football, Old Trafford, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel

Hotel Football made my husband’s long-awaited first Manchester United match at Old Trafford feel even more special. We stayed in the 92 room for his birthday, and the decorations were a lovely surprise. We also spotted Brian McClair, Denis Irwin, and Alan Keegan, the voice of Old Trafford, at the hotel. The staff were attentive, polite, and accommodating throughout, and Chanel deserves a special thank you for her recommendation and for patiently answering my questions before, during, and after our stay. The stadium-side location and room view were terrific, the bed was very comfortable, and the hospitality before and after the game was excellent. We felt like VIPs, and the whole visit surpassed what we’d hoped for.

Mohammed, the manager, made a short one-night stay feel very welcoming. He’d arranged things ahead of time, gave us a complimentary drinks card for the bar and a 10% Old Trafford Megastore voucher, and really went out of his way when I lost my backpack on the train from London to Manchester. He called the train company and followed up to try to get it back, which made a stressful situation much easier. The hotel is right by Old Trafford, so it’s an ideal spot for visiting the stadium or Megastore. It was one of the best hotel stays I’ve had, and another reason I remain loyal to the Marriott family. Highly recommend.

The bars and restaurants had a great atmosphere after the game, and the way the team handled match days was impressive. Everything ran smoothly, like a well-practised operation. We’d come from Paris for the game. The staff were amazing, our room was really spacious, and the stadium is so close. Highly recommend.

The rooftop pitch on floor ‘H’, up on the 9th floor, was a highlight. We visited on a quiet Sunday evening in mid September, and it was clean, with footballs ready to use and superb views over the Manchester skyline. The small fitness suite had what I needed for a casual workout, including towels, water bottles and TVs with Sky and BT channels. It probably wouldn’t suit a keen gym enthusiast. We stayed in the Class of 92 room on the 8th floor. It was spotless, nicely decorated and had robes, complimentary slippers, a mini fridge stocked with two beers, two waters, two Vimto’s and sweets, plus a TV with Sky Sports and BT Sport. The bed was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was good, though the shower and sink drained a little slowly. We were only there one night, so it didn’t affect us much. The staff were friendly and helpful, including the ground-floor cafe team, who’d refill our water bottles for free. Great venue and location, we’d stay again! ⚽️
