Malacuna Manchester

The decor is lovely throughout, from reception and the halls to the bedrooms and bathrooms. I also liked having a curtain for each bed, plus shower gel and hand soap, and the kitchen is spacious and has all the facilities you need. There are two very helpful reception staff, though I can't remember their names. One is from Ukraine. The hostel is ideally placed in the heart of the lively Northern quarter. It can be loud because there's a bar with live music right next door. I sleep fine, but it might not suit anyone with sensitive ears. The fridge is really noisy, and there aren't any mugs. I'll definitely stay again.

I had a 10/10 stay 😊😊. The reception staff were very friendly, everything was clean, and the bunks had curtains for privacy. There's a kitchen area, and it's close to the train station.

I booked a standard double as a solo traveler even though I was unsure about the makeover, and I'm really glad I did. Malacuna formally Selina is doing a great job since taking over Selina. The room was extremely clean, freshly painted, and had a wonderfully comfortable mattress and soft linen, with no feeling that corners had been cut on the bed or bedding. I slept really well, and I love hearing the city sounds into the morning. I woke to sunshine, warmth and peace. The kitchen setup is decent, though it could use some care and repainting. I get the feeling that's already in the works, so no big deal. A few changes could make things nicer: seating outside by the doors, and some seating in the inn need courtyard with better flooring and decor. Still, none of that affected my stay. It's a great turnaround from Selina.

The hostel has some nice facilities and the staff are helpful, which is a shame because the price isn't cheap. But if you want to sleep, go somewhere else. I don't understand offering accommodation and then playing horrible loud music for most of the night. Earplugs don't work, and the music makes you want to kill. Why have stupid music going until midnight or even morning, including on weekdays?
