Pine Lodge Hotel & Restaurant Mansfield

The place has a quirky look, which we liked. We were there for nine days between house moves, and the Mansfield location suited us well. Our room was dated and fairly basic, but clean and tidy, with a bath and shower. Breakfast was good, and there was a pleasant bar with hot food in the evenings. The Turkish and Iranian couple running the hotel were lovely, very friendly and polite. Recommended.

The breakfast was amazing and the food was great. Service was very good too. The rooms were okay, with clean linen and a clean bathroom. The decorating is a bit slapdash, and there was some damp around the windows, though it is an old building.

We booked a New Year's Eve stay with breakfast the next morning, but the breakfast room was locked and dark when we went down. Reception was locked too, and there was nobody to ask. We waited 40 minutes, tried the emergency number with no answer, then left hungry. Another family of four had the same experience. We won't be back. In reply to the hotel's response, we saw no New Year's Day breakfast information other than a notice listing weekdays as 7.00 to 9.00 and weekends as 8.00 to 10.00.

The breakfast was a disorganised mess, with warm diluted juice and stale bread for toast. We gave up and went to McDonald's. This was after we had complained during the night to get the excessively loud music turned down. The place needs knocking down. I have pictures of what I described and will post them if I can find the option. The hotel’s reply describes events that did not happen during my stay. Either they have me mixed up with another guest from another night, or they are making things up. I arrived in my car after driving from Kilmarnock, so I certainly wasn’t intoxicated, and we did not bring food into the hotel. In fact, after driving five hours and being shattered, we walked up the hill to the Marston's Inn across from the petrol station because this place was so disgusting. I suggest you correct your reply before this becomes a slander case. If you’re sure you’re right, post the reception footage on social media. As for saying you won’t accept another booking from me, I’ve seen cleaner boarding kennels. The building itself was a disgusting, run-down dump, with a weird smell as soon as you walked in. The rooms were filthy, run down and dangerous. The toilet needed a proper clean, the carpet was absolutely filthy, and the bathroom towel rail was coming away where the wire enters the wall, with insulating tape over it. There was mold all over the hallway walls.
