Shenandoah House

Jim was such a good host, and I could have chatted with him all day. The rooms were clean, the bedding was lovely, and breakfast had everything you need. It’s close to Dreamlands and about a 15 minute walk to the station.

The top floor front double room had a beautiful sea view, and the host was welcoming. Breakfast was a nice cooked spread, self-service. I didn’t sleep much, though, because the couple in the room next door were talking loudly. There was also no leaflet in the room with the free WiFi details, the breakfast menu or the serving times. Still, it’s a nice, cosy guest house.

Jim made our one-day stay feel comfortable and homely. He was courteous, helpful with any questions, and even gave us a lift to Botany Bay when we checked out. You could tell from how he spoke with the other guests in the dining area that he really values people and will go out of his way to help. The facilities were clean and welcoming, and breakfast was enjoyable, with a choice of full English or continental at an affordable price. It’s about a 10 minute walk to the town centre. If we come back to Margate, Jim will be our first call. A very family-friendly home away from home, highly recommended.

I booked at the last minute after I couldn’t get a stay at Premier Inn, and I’m really glad I did. Jim was lovely and kept checking that I was okay. The sea view was beautiful, the bed very comfy, and breakfast really tasty. It feels like a home away from home. It’s also not far from the seafront or station, around a 10-15 minute walk. I was very happy with my one-night stay and hope this place gets all the good reviews it deserves.
