The Pratchett Room was spacious, and Ben and Cody were welcoming, friendly and accommodating. It’s well placed for a visit to Avebury, and breakfast was very good, though there was more than we could finish. The Eggs Benedict were especially rich. A few things made it hard to settle in. We’d given plenty of notice about our arrival time, but the room was freezing when we got there in late December and took a couple of hours to warm up. We ended up in bed fully dressed, with little to do. There was just one bedside lamp, no light at the desk, and no teaspoons, coasters or full-length mirror. These are small details, but ones you usually expect, and the room could use some attention before it feels fully comfortable.

Elderbrook House is close to Avebury village and worked perfectly for exploring the area. It was dog-friendly, and the owners were very welcoming, flexible and accommodating. We loved the homemade food and the beer, and had a wonderful stay. We’d happily come back.

We enjoyed staying here, and the place felt cosy. The hosts also gave us some tips for visiting nearby places. There isn’t a restaurant or pub close by, though. The pub connected with Elderbrook House is only open at limited times, but a few minutes’ drive away there’s another pub and an Italian restaurant.

We only stayed one night, but the host had even packed a few snacks for our trip home, so we left smiling. Breakfast was delicious and generous, the rooms were lovely, and the complimentary drinks in the fridge were a nice touch. The host was very welcoming, and the countryside is stunning. We had a fabulous time.

We got in really late, and Ben was wonderful about helping us find dinner and making sure we were comfortable. Breakfast the next morning was amazing too. If we come back this way, we won’t miss staying here.
