Beachcomber House

The location looked great and the house seemed lovely at first, but it was extremely cold throughout our winter stay. The host had said it was insulated. When we reported that the main bedroom radiator wasn't working and only the tiny one worked, the host said they already knew and could call a heating engineer, but couldn't say when. We were left expected to wait around during our holiday, with no real apology. The heating was controlled remotely, too. If we turned it on to warm up, it would be switched off again within about 10 minutes. The feedback from the host was confusing and negative. They'd said we could check in early, then criticized us for doing so. They said our dogs were welcome, then called it a one-off. We left the house spotless and took photos, but were told it was only relatively clean. On our departure day, I noticed a man parked outside in a car, then recognized the host from his profile photo. He didn't come over to say hello. I've never had such a confusing, negative experience with hosts on Airbnb. Their online persona felt very different from reality. If you want a relaxing stay without feeling watched or dealing with this sort of negativity, book somewhere else.
