The rooms were beautiful, and the staff were so friendly, always smiling and happy to help. The gravel car park made it difficult to push a wheelchair, though. That won’t stop us coming back.

We stopped here on the way to Cornwall and were glad we found it. Our room was large and comfortable, the welcome was warm, and the food was good. There are fir trees around the grounds, so it felt private and shady, and our three-year-old enjoyed walking all the way around outside. The hotel is fairly large but low and flat, perhaps only two floors, which gave it a peaceful feel. There’s no air conditioning, and getting a breeze through the room was difficult, but a big ceiling fan helped. The patio doors can be left open just a little to let air in while staying secure. We were travelling as a family, though we also noticed a conference room. We’d happily stay again.

We only came for dinner, not an overnight stay, and were made to feel welcome as soon as we walked in. There was a very wide-ranging menu, including a good choice of vegetarian dishes for me. I had the chestnut squash pie, which was delicious, especially the pastry. My friend enjoyed her pork belly too and said it was very good. I’d recommend it for a meal out.

The restaurant food was good, with generous portions, and breakfast was very good too. We stayed for two nights and really enjoyed it. The staff were extremely friendly, the rooms clean and spacious, and ours had a comfortable sofa and a small table and chairs on the terrace. Full-width patio doors let in plenty of light and made the room feel airy. My mum uses a wheelchair and could get to her ground-floor room easily via a ramp from the car park. The gravel made the route to the restaurant a bit tricky. Her room wasn’t specifically offered as accessible, and some things were awkward for her, including the plug heights and lack of a walk-in shower, but she still enjoyed her stay. I’ve stayed in plenty of smart hotels over the years and would definitely come back here and recommend it to others.

We slept really well, then had a scrumptious breakfast. The rooms were clean and tidy, and well above what I’d expect for the price. Staff were lovely and welcoming, and the varied, reasonably priced menu brought us appetising food that was nicely presented and tasty. Glad we picked the Hollies.
