Breakfast was a real treat, with granola, fruit and yoghurt, toast, cereals, a full English with a vegetarian option, and smoked salmon with scrambled eggs. Helen was especially helpful when we needed taxis at short notice on a Saturday night. The staff were all friendly and welcoming. Our room was spotless and beautifully furnished, with a lovely view, a very comfortable bed and antique bedstead. The shower was good and the towels were thick. You’d never know it’s a dog-friendly B&B, there wasn’t a whiff of dog. It has the feel of a mini country hotel. We only stayed one night, arriving after check-in and heading straight to a wedding, then leaving just after breakfast, so I wish we’d had longer. A lovely base for exploring the Peak District, and I can’t recommend it highly enough.

We found plenty of parking in the rear lot, and the location was ideal for walking. Using iFootpath, we followed a couple of trails over hills and fields, past sheep and cows. One three-mile route took us, with a small improvisation, all the way to Chatsworth House. It was gorgeous and well worth the walk. Pubs and cafes were within walking distance, and Manchester airport was about an hour and ten minutes away. At Fern Bank, the owner welcomed us like family and went out of their way to make breakfast for us when we had to leave too early to eat at the house. The bacon butties were great on the drive, and we had their homemade cake at the airport. The accommodation was exceptionally high quality, with a gorgeous bedroom, a much-needed large comfy bed and a beautifully remodelled bathroom. A wonderful way to experience the English countryside.

The hosts made me feel at home from the moment I arrived. My room was spacious, clean and comfortable, with lovely views. Breakfast was among the best I’ve had, and the local food at the Peacock was excellent. A fantastic B&B in a stunning spot.

Helen was so laid-back and helpful, and the breakfast she made us was delicious. We loved the peaceful village setting and slept like babies in our cosy room. I’d definitely recommend this B&B.

The owner was so helpful, and breakfast was amazing, cooked just right. It’s a comfortable place with everything you need, and it makes a perfect base for visiting all sorts of places around the area. Definitely worth a visit.
