We had plenty of room for four people and two dogs, and there was lots of parking. The cottage felt comfortable and homely from the moment we arrived, and we rented it for a week. The Nordic Cabin was great, with wood supplied and a fire that was easy to get going. It’s quite close to the road and the entrance is easy to miss, though we didn’t notice much noise. A fantastic place, well worth booking.

The cottage is a lovely base for exploring the Derbyshire dales, with walks from the front door and two ways to reach the high peak trail. The owners provided details, and there’s a beautiful forest nearby with all sorts of fungi to find, which the adults and children enjoyed. We stayed for a few nights with family before Christmas and found the house warm and welcoming. The kitchen had everything we needed for Christmas dinner for six, and there was parking for three cars. It’s also set up well for outdoor stays, with hard-wearing carpets by the entrances and a boot brush to keep dirt out. The owners live off site, so we had privacy, but they were attentive, kind, and polite, and made us feel well looked after. The log cabin and fire were lovely, well lit, stocked, and cared for. Sleeping arrangements worked well for us, with two upstairs bedrooms sharing a family-style bathroom and another bedroom downstairs. The upstairs room nearest the road gets some morning noise from lorries making early weekday deliveries; we adjusted after the first night, and weekends were very quiet. We appreciated that the windows lock, with keys hanging nearby, so they felt secure but were still easy to open when needed. It was a real joy, and we plan to come back in summer to explore more. I’d highly recommend it.

We were greeted with wine, tea, coffee, biscuits, and milk already waiting for us. The cottage is lovely and ideally placed for walking. The only drawback was the internet cutting out now and then. I’d definitely recommend it.

There’s lots to do nearby, and the cottage is lovely and nicely presented. Just be aware traffic can get bad on the way towards Cromford and Matlock.

This was our second visit to the lovely cottage. It was very clean, had all the comforts of home, and we had a really enjoyable stay. Highly recommend.
