They made a real effort to accommodate my lactose intolerance at breakfast, and the meal was lovely. We also took home some flapjack and chocolate cake for the teenagers. It was a very welcoming stay and excellent value. The bed was a bit firm, and there’s a big step into both the room and the bathroom, so keep that in mind. The shower and bath were lovely.

We came as a family group of six for lunch and drinks, but the way one staff member treated us, possibly the owner, left us feeling unwelcome. When we asked for a table, we were told only a table for four was free. She suggested we bring over two chairs from another table, including one she was sitting on. My son moved the chairs, then we overheard her make a sarcastic remark about the seat being taken. That made the atmosphere uncomfortable, so we decided not to order food. My husband had already ordered four drinks, and we didn’t feel right simply walking out, so we stayed until we’d finished them and then left. Basic courtesy matters to us, especially when we’re visiting as a family. It was missing this time, and we won’t be back.

We stayed three nights at the Fountain Tea Rooms. It’s a quaint, peaceful place, and the rooms were clean, nicely equipped, with comfortable beds. Breakfast in the cafe below was amazing, well presented and really tasty. There was plenty to choose from, from a full English to scrambled egg and mushrooms on toast, and nothing seemed too much trouble. The staff were friendly and helpful. There’s a children’s playground across the road, and the Kings Head pub up the road did fantastic steaks that were well worth the money. We’d recommend staying here. Thanks to all the staff for a lovely stay.

We left with smiles after a wonderful stay. The owner and staff were lovely, friendly and very helpful. Our room was clean, nicely decorated, and had a comfortable bed. Breakfast was included and cooked beautifully. It was a great find at a good price, and I can’t recommend it enough.
