Breakfast had lots of choice, and the pub food was excellent. I had the three-course meal, and every dish was fresh, tasty and really well cooked. My room was comfortable and welcoming, and the Greyhound Hotel in Matlock has a charming traditional feel. Right on the edge of the Peak District, it’s a great base for exploring the area. Highly recommend for a cosy stay, good food and easy access to the countryside.

A lovely spot for a drink while you’re in the area. There’s a big outdoor seating area that’s wonderful on a sunny day, plus lots of different indoor rooms if you want a quieter place to chat.

The staff were friendly and the food was good, though a bit expensive. The rooms feel a little tired, and a blocked chimney nearly smoked us out.

Really tasty food, great beer, very drinkable wine and fantastic service. I’d recommend stopping for a meal or drinks. We didn’t stay, so I can’t comment on the rooms.

We left just 10 minutes after checking in because the room was dirty, freezing and dingy. The staff were incredibly rude and unhelpful. We complained to Booking.com, who said they’d contacted the hotel about the problem, but the hotel never replied. We didn’t get a refund because the manager apparently didn’t care about our experience. Avoid this place.
