The location and views were amazing, and the woman I spoke to on the phone was polite and quick to answer. Getting into the apartment, though, was a nightmare. The email gave no directions to the key box, and the code I was sent was wrong. It had been changed, but nobody told me until I rang the office at 6pm. After an eight-hour drive in traffic, that was the last thing I needed, especially since payment had already been taken. Once inside, the apartment was nice and the Wi-Fi worked, but the cups hadn't been washed and were dirty, and there was a lot of hair on the bathroom floor. The cleaning really wasn't good. I left the cups in apartment 4, and hope they'll be washed after this review. I still don't understand why the code was changed without letting me know.

The sea view was the one thing that cheered us up. We stayed in number 2 White lodge apartments, and the first thing we noticed on entering was how dirty it was. There was hair on the bed sheets, and the sofa bed had loads of sand and some bits of food inside, so we couldn't use it. We found cobwebs on the ceiling and piles of dust and rubbish in the gaps between the wall and cabinet. It made us feel unwelcome and disgusted. I emailed the admin and they replied quickly, then sent a housekeeper the next day. Sadly, the place still wasn't clean to an acceptable standard. The apartment itself looked filthy, with lots of marks on the walls, and there was someone else's ice in the freezer along with an opened package. It definitely wasn't worth about £200 a night.

We usually stay in hotels when we visit Mawgan Porth, and have been coming for years, but this was our best holiday yet. We stayed in 9 White Lodge Apartments two weeks ago, in June 2019. The apartment was superb, clean and comfortable, with amazing views and just a short walk to the beach. We've already booked for next year!

The National Trust cafe is excellent, and this is still my favourite Cornish beach. It's got glorious golden sand, waves, the sea, rock pools and great views. Getting down is a punishing climb on the stairs, though. Some steps were being repaired with flags on top, which left them extremely high and just about impossible for me to get past.

The pub and shop were lovely, and the beach is very close. We stayed at number 6, which was clean and well appointed. It's in a great position, though a hedge spoiled it, and we couldn't get the Wi-Fi working. They offered a solution, but I didn't see the message until we were home.
