The wildlife and walks were a lovely surprise, especially the woodland path where we spotted a deer. We also enjoyed the views, the sounds of nature, and the sight of trains passing across our view on tracks hidden a few fields away. The cabin sits on a working farm with lovely fishing lakes, and it was a fantastic first cabin stay. Inside, it's spacious and well planned, with the countryside on view from the lounge and veranda. There's a hot tub we hope to try next time, plus a sauna room. One thing to keep in mind: if your 14-year-old is 6'4", a bunk bed will be a tight fit! It's a handy central base, with quick, easy access to the East coast and North-East England. Highly recommended. Mike & Rita are lovely to talk to and great hosts.

The wait took two years because of lockdown, but it was worth it. We had amazing views, and being able to fish privately was a big bonus. The lodge was fantastic, with the sauna and hot tub making a great end to each day. We'll definitely be back.

We had a lovely, relaxing family stay in these peaceful lodges. The views were beautiful from the sofa, decking and hot tub. Rita's thoughtful touches made the place feel special, from the milk and biscuits to the binoculars on the bookcase and picnic blanket. The lodge was first class and very well equipped. Thanks for a lovely stay. We'll definitely return!

The WiFi was poor, and the wet-room floor was uneven and didn't drain very well. Neither issue affected our trip much. It's a nice family spot, with big cabins and a farm to explore, including lakes, woods and fields. The coast is only 25 minutes away.

The farm was wonderful for adults and children alike. There are three well-stocked fishing ponds, lovely walks around the land to take in the wildlife, and we even saw the sheep with their babies. The games room has table tennis, a pool table and table football. After our stint up the Toppings, we used the bonus gym too. Blackthorne gate has everything, even after staying in plenty of beautiful, high-spec log cabins. The owners are wonderful and nothing is too much trouble. Our cabin was clean, spacious and well equipped, with a hoover, mop and bucket. With our dog, being able to keep the cabin clean and leave it as we found it matters to us. The hot tub was fab, with amazing views, and the sauna was a bonus. An excellent getaway for everyone.
