Assheton Arms Hotel

Looking out the window, I saw rats wandering among piles of garbage, quite a zoo experience. The room and shared areas were dirty, and the whole place seemed neglected and poorly maintained. A pub right beside the hotel played extremely loud music until late. It felt as if my room was inside a nightclub, so getting sleep was impossible. The staff were no help when I raised concerns. They didn't listen and gave poor, unprofessional explanations. I only booked because it was an emergency and there were no other hotels available nearby. I regret it. I've travelled a lot, and this was the worst hotel stay I've had. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

The kettle has to be plugged in on the floor, which seems very safe 😂. The walls are paper thin, and the neighbours are super loud, so expect a terrible night's sleep. The shared toilet and bathroom clearly haven't been cleaned properly. Avoid, avoid, avoid!

We were two 18 year old girls and felt scared there. The place was full of bugs, and we left with painful bites. There was dirt everywhere, so we took turns sleeping to make sure one of us was awake and alert. There was no private bathroom, just a shared space with mould and other people's litter. We wiped the table as a joke to see if it was dirty, and the wipe came up black. It seemed like they only changed the sheets and didn't clean the place, and even the sheets weren't changed properly.

I was there for one night, and it was vile. The bed bugs under the disgusting sheets were overwhelming. There was rubbish in the dirty room, blood on the sheets, urine stains on the towels, bird droppings on the windowsill, holes in the wall and a leaking toilet. I also saw drugs everywhere, with baggies in the corridors. Awful. When I tried to speak to reception on my way out, they were useless. This is the worst place I've ever stayed.
