The log burner made the cottage feel especially cosy, and we loved how tucked away it was from the busier parts of the Lakes. We had a brilliant break last week, with lovely walks near Eskdale and around Muncaster Castle grounds, plus a good cafe there. We also explored Millom and did the cliff-top walk at St Bees, where we found a wonderful cafe with excellent eggs Benedict, a full English, and a toastie. A lovely setting for a relaxing stay.

Since this is my home, I’m not going to praise it just for the sake of it. But if you’re feeling stressed from work, it’s a wonderful place to be.
