We had the kitchen and dining area, as well as the patio, to ourselves since no other guests were staying that night. Carol was a very welcoming host. David was in hospital, and we hope he made a full recovery. We were touring the Lake District, and while this is away from the best-known spots, the peaceful waterside setting and views across the mudflats were lovely.

We only stayed overnight while visiting a sick relative, but David made us feel welcome and was very helpful. The property is peaceful and unusual, with amazing views, and our room was cosy and comfortable with everything we needed. Breakfast had a great selection, and we didn't feel a cooked meal was necessary. A few different teas, perhaps Earl Grey or English Breakfast, would be a nice addition. We'd certainly come back.

The garden is a lovely place to sit or eat, with a great view of the Lake District mountains, and the whole place is quiet and peaceful. There are loads of walks nearby, so it's well worth a visit. The rooms are bright and clean, the beds comfortable, and the host was about as friendly as anyone could be. Breakfast is self-serve, with cereal, muffins, croissants, toast, tea, coffee and juice. There's also a fridge where you can keep your own food.

We only had two nights, but really enjoyed our stay. The host was incredibly friendly, and the views are beautiful. Millom is about a 15-minute walk away, and there's a lovely coastal route to Port Haverigg. Breakfast is help yourself, with cereal, croissants, toast, crumpets and fruit, and we were told we could have any of it at any time. Guests can use the microwave and fridge too. One tip: contact them directly to book 😎

You can hear the wildlife on the Estuary here, with no car noise, heavy lorries, emergency sirens, banging doors or rowdy late-night drinkers to disturb the peace. The host is friendly, down to earth, and knows a lot about local walks and the geography. It has one of the best views in the lower Lake District, and if you're after nature and quiet, this place feels like Nirvana.
