We drove to Coniston one day, and another day visited Silecroft, a lovely little beach with a cafe and toilet facilities. Our caravan was fabulous, really clean, tidy and comfortable. The site is well located, with lovely walks nearby.

We had a lovely week after booking through hoeseasons at the last minute. The caravan was small but nicely decorated and seemed to have been refurbished recently. The site has a quiet feel, with an on-site bar and restaurant, plus a private marina available to park guests for a fee. We enjoyed paddleboarding there on several days. Most of the main Lake District attractions are about a 40-minute drive away, which wasn't a problem for us but is worth knowing. The site was lovely and the staff very helpful. The on-site watersport centre even lent us a paddle when we realised we'd left ours at home. We'd definitely return.

There was plenty to keep the kids amused at this fantastic park, and we had a wonderful time. Our caravan was spotless, with enough space and the bonus of two toilets. The view and beach are fantastic, and the beach walk was clean and surprisingly quiet. Rod Short was an amazing host, leaving us milk, biscuits and Yorkshire tea bags. I’d definitely recommend it for families.

The weather is fantastic while we're here, and the site has a good atmosphere and is well run. My one complaint is how far you have to go for water. There’s only one tap, a long way across the field from the tents and caravans. I have a heart condition, so carrying water is very difficult for me. Be aware of that.

We loved the lakeside walk past the bird sanctuary, the big beach beyond it, and the walks towards Haverigg. Everyone was friendly, and staff waved as they passed. I’d been unsure about another caravan stay after a few years away, but it was much better than expected, clean and comfortable with a lovely feel. We had a long weekend here with my husband and our two dogs, and hope to return soon. Take your camera!
